Passwords are managed by U of C Information Technologies. Passwords can be reset online using the IT Password Reset Utility .
Before you click the "Download Hardcopy for Selected Set" button, you must choose one of the sets using the radio buttons to the left of their names.
Webwork will accept many functions in answers. A complete list can be found here.
If you receive an error message, or your browser is unable to connect to the webwork site, please fill out the Support Form . This form is only to be used for technical problems. The technicians will not be able to answer mathematical questions. Information on mathematical problems is available below. Note that the default display mode for webwork questions is images. Some linear algebra questions do not display properly in this mode. To view these questions, select "formattedText" in the Display Options box on the bottom left hand side of the screen, then click "Apply Options".
Note that the method for logging in to Webwork changed significantly in the Summer of 2007. If you are new to webwork, please read Getting Started With Webwork . Make sure that you are using your IT username and password, which is not the same as your eID. Your IT username will be at most 8 characters long, and will not contain a period. If you have just transferred from one class to another, or have just registered for a class that uses webwork, please wait 24 hours before contacting your professor or support, as it may take up to a day for webwork class lists to update. If it has been more than a day since you registered, please verify your registration through the Peoplesoft Student Centre , and then contact your professor (Math Department Directory ).
During a quiz, help is not available on the material. You may raise your hand and ask the TA to clarify what the question is asking. For assignments, it is very difficult for professors and TAs to answer mathematical questions over email. If you need help with the material, you should first consult with the textbook or your fellow students. Drop-in help is available for most first-year courses at the Continuous Tutorial rooms. You may also approach your TA or professor during office hours to get additional help. The webwork feedback form is for technical problems, and thus the individuals answering these submissions will not be able to help with mathematical questions.
You are usually allowed several attempts on each question. This allows you to correct any errors you have made when working out the solution. If you are running low on attempts, it is probably a good idea to consult with your fellow students, the continuous tutorial, or your TA to ensure that you are on the right track.
Since you are already allowed multiple attempts, no extra attempts will be given. Since you can still check your answers after the due date, requests for extensions made after the due date has passed will generally be refused. Due dates for webwork assignments are posted well in advance. If you wait until the last minute, you will not have time to fix any mistakes that you discover when submitting your answers.
Note as well that help is only available during working hours, so if you leave your assignment until the last evening or weekend you will not be able to obtain help with material you do not understand.
On an assignment, you should consult your fellow students. If they agree that your answer is correct, then you can check with the continuous tutorial or your TA. If they agree that your answer is correct, then contact your professor (Math Department Directory ), who will be able to verify that your answer is correct. If your question is on a quiz, you should ask your TA after the quiz has finished.
