Program Advice

Submitted by admin on Fri, 05/06/2011 - 2:35pm.

Undergraduate Studies pertains to students admitted and registered in courses for credit towards an undergraduate degree or diploma program (Bachelor's Degree) that specializes in a particular area (major). Visiting students, Exchange students, and Open Studies students are also considered as undergraduate students.

Those who already hold an undergraduate degree and who wish to pursue studies at the Masters or Doctoral level in an area of Mathematics or Statistics should refer to the Graduate area for details.

Challenge Exams

Submitted by admin on Fri, 05/06/2011 - 4:59pm.

Students who are enrolled in Mathematics 211 or 249 or 251 or 253, but who feel that they have already mastered the course material (through self-study, AP, IB, Special Honours programs in High School), may take a challenge examination at the beginning of term. Students who pass the appropriate test will be granted permission to take that course by special assessment (SA) and considered for permission to register in other department courses using the SA course as prerequisite. Credit will be given for the course taken by special assessment, a grade assigned, and the regular course fee will be assessed. Students interested in pursuing special assessment should consult the Department during the first week of classes.
