Research Institutes

In addition, the University of Calgary hosts two Faculty Institutes, ISPIA and IQST. ISPIA, the Institute for Security, Privacy, and Information Assurance, conducts research into matters affecting the security of information within computer networks. This research, funded through the University of Calgary, the Faculty of Science, and NSERC, protects the integrity and privacy of data involved in  applications from international banking to health record encryption. IQST, the Institute for Quantum Science and Technology, researches the applications of quantum mechanics for chemistry, physics, and computer science ranging from new chemical structures to quantum computing.
