About Us

This collaboration brings together mathematicians, geophysicists, and image specialists to build improved seismic imaging algorithms based on pseudodifferential operator theory and other advanced mathematical analysis techniques. The driving force for this research is the need for precise estimates of lithologies and pore fluids from seismic images of the earth, which calls for sophisticated analytical techniques. Significant improvements in this area will have a direct impact on successful discovery of resources in the oil and gas industry.

We have recently expanded our research to include medical imaging and target enhancement, with research nodes at York University and the University of Montreal.

This website describes our primary research activities, collaborators, supporting organizations, and much more. Our working website, including access to source code, documentation, theoretical papers and more can be found at the website http://potsi.geo.ucalgary.ca.
