STEP funding for summer students

Human Resources is pleased to advise that the Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP), sponsored by Alberta Human Resources and Employment will be available again this year. This program provides Faculties and Departments with an opportunity to offer quality career experience positions to unemployed Albertans by providing partial funding for wages.

Human Resources is pleased to coordinate this program on behalf of the University.

For 2010, a total of twenty nine projects will be funded at the University.  Please submit as many applications as necessary and rank them in priority sequence for funding.

STEP 2010 will operate from April 26, 2010 to August 27, 2010 and provides a wage subsidy of $7.00 per hour (this includes 10% towards employer costs of benefits) for approved projects.  Further details are contained in the application package attached below.

Please review the guidelines carefully, complete the application form and obtain the appropriate signatures.  We are happy to receive scanned copies of the completed forms sent to hrhire@ucalgary.ca

The deadline for applications to be received by the Recruitment Office is Friday March 26, 2010.  Human Resources will confirm with those individuals whose projects have been approved by Thursday, April 1, 2010.
