If one goes to the library and chooses randomly a graduate book in
Mathematics, it is very unlikely that it does not contain one of the
following words: Riemann hypothesis, Riemann zeta function, Riemann
integral, Riemann sum, Riemann surface, Riemann-Roch theorem, Riemann
theta function, Riemann sphere, Cauchy-Riemann equations, ...
In this talk, we explore the forty-years of personal and mathematical
life of this religious mathematician and see how he founded or touched
these many areas in mathematics.
At the end of the talk, hopefully you will be convinced that we should
devote at least one talk per month to this great mathematician in our
Department!
