The goal of the talk is to introduce the most elementary one variable case
of the Hardy spaces and to show some examples of their recent
applications. It is planned to state such classical results as the
Paley-Wiener theorem and the Carleson embedding theorem and to show their
connections with operator theory and parabolic equations.
