5th Annual Meeting of the Prairie Network for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (PNRMS)

On behalf of the 2011 PNRMS Local Organizing Committee: The 5th Annual Meeting of the Prairie Network for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (PNRMS) will be held at Luther College on the University of Regina Campus on April 30, May 1 and 2, 2011.

This event will feature a graduate workshop on April 30 followed by a research conference on May 1 and 2.   It has been supported by Mitacs, PIMS, the University of Regina, and its affiliated institution, Luther College. Meals and accommodation for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers will be provided.  The registration deadline is April 16.

April 30
Student workshop. This day will feature survey lectures in Combinatorics, Representation Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Fluid Mechanics, and Statistics aimed at graduate students and honours undergraduates, followed by an evening Social Gathering on the University of Regina campus.
May 1
(Morning) PNRMS Board Meeting (tent.) at Luther College; (Afternoon) Scientific Session at Luther College; (Evening) Participant's Banquet
May 2
(Morning) Scientific Session at Luther College; (Afternoon) Departure after our closing lunch. Breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks will be provided each day from April 30 – May 2 at the Luther College Cafeteria.

  • Dr. Susan Cooper, Algebraic Geometry (U Nebraska - Lincoln).

Registration

There is no registration fee for the conference. To register and/or reserve accommodation for the conference please call Ms. Pamela Sparvier at (306) 585-4148 or send an email with subject "Prairie Network Conference" to Pamela Sparvier by April 16 with your

  • Name,
  • Institution,
  • Whether or not you would like to stay on campus,
  • Whether you are an undergraduate student, graduate student, PDF, or Faculty participant,
  • Whether or not you would like to attend the Banquet (cost $25 to Faculty participants, free for students) and
  • The title of your talk if you plan to give one.

The contributed talks will be 25-30 minutes. If there are dietary or accommodation concerns, please include that information.

Accommodation

Accommodation for up to 40 visiting students and postdoctoral fellows will be provided in the University of Regina's Residence Towers for the nights of April 29, 30, and May 1. For Faculty participants wishing to stay on campus, the cost will be $55 per night. To reserve on campus accommodation please call Ms. P. Sparvier at (306) 585-4148 or send an email with subject "Prairie Network Conference" to Pamela Sparvier with your name, institution, evenings you would like to stay, and whether you are a student/PDF/Faculty participant.
