Central European University (CEU), an institution of higher education in the social sciences and the humanities, has now introduced a new PhD program in mathematics, in cooperation with the Alfred Renyi Institute of Mathematics.

The Institute was founded by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1949 and the research staff consists of about 70 members. It is located in a small turn-of-the-century palace in the very center of Budapest.

A Doctoral Support Program in Mathematics is available to students enrolled in full-time doctoral studies at recognized institutions of higher education. DSP students will receive consultation and supervision from the CEU and the Institute's faculty.

There is no requirement to earn course credit; participants are encouraged to work together with the faculty of the program. Therefore, the program will be most beneficial to students who are at the stage of thesis writing.
