Calgary is a modern city with a population over 1 million. It is the oil centre of Canada and is a major financial centre. Calgary was the site of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, and excellent skiing, hiking, and top class physical recreation facilities are close at hand. Banff, Yoho, Waterton, and Kootenay National Parks are all within a few hours drive from Calgary. Drumheller Dinosaur and Kananaskis Provincial Parks are other nearby areas of great natural interest and beauty.
